Perth to Freo - Race Results

27 May 2019 by James McQuillan

Hi All,

Just wanted to say thank you and congratulations on such a successful Perth to Fremantle this year!

It was a great showcase of our club to the rest of WA and Australia (and beyond) – FRC has come a long way since the last Perth to Freo in 2017 and the feedback from the event has been overwhelmingly positive.

Congratulations to the First Men’s Eight on being the fasted men’s crew, apparently the first time FRC has won this since 1959! The Second Men’s Eight put in a great race to go well under an hour, and comfortably beat some other clubs’ first eights. The Women’s Eight came in a well-earned second place over uni and wests, and with the crew being changed through injury on the day they should be very proud of their effort. The Master’s Mens Eight put in a workmanlike performance and did the club proud, taking out 5th in their event.

This year Rowing WA decided not to organise the regatta and focus on the AMRC, so it was down to FRC to do most of the work for the event. Nonetheless our volunteers on and off the water made it a great success. There was great representation from all the squads in volunteering in various roles and I am very grateful for everyone’s involvement. In addition to the volunteers from Colin’s post, a special thanks must go to Colin Armstrong who has put an enormous amount of work into the event through all the changes that came our way.

Lastly if anyone has photos from the day send them through!

Thanks
James
